The motorcyclist and a passenger, who were said to be coming from Berger bus stop in Lagos, died instantly while another passenger who sustained injuries was taken to Mainland General Hospital, on Lagos Island.
The driver of the bus is said to be on the run and the police are on his trail.
Though the police have not made any statement about the cause of the accident, one of the eyewitnesses said the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday was as a result of over speeding by the bus driver.
When PM news reporter visited the Ajuwon Police Station, Blue House, in Ajuwon, Ogun State, the bus, popularly called Danfo, with registration number MUS 898 XC and the motorcycle with registration number PKA 942 QC were seen parked at the station.
Police sources at the station initially denied knowledge of any death as a result of the accident before relatives of the deceased and some commercial motorcycle riders started trooping into the station.
One of the riders, who accompanied the police to a private mortuary in Ajuwon, Life Channel Funeral Home, where the two corpses were deposited, identified the deceased rider as Lucas Anya from Nassarawa State.
Usman Ali, who claimed to be a relative of the deceased rider, said that the deceased was recently involved in an accident which he is just recovering from before his unfortunate death.
An attempt to speak with the DPO at the station on the incident was fruitless as he was said to have gone out on official assignment.
Police sources, however, said they are making effort to identify the deceased passenger.
