The Federal Government has appointed Mr. Mohammed Abubakar Wasaram, as the new Managing Director of the National Rural Electrification Agency, NREA.
Wasaram succeeded Mr. Kenneth Achugbu, who was recently suspended by the Supervisory Board of the agency
Speaking with newsmen on this development, Chairman of the Board; Senator Jonathan Zwingina, said the board made the decision to suspend the former boss over poor projects execution and failure to implement its budget between 2012 and 2013.
According to Zwingina, the supervisory board was inaugurated in September 2013 to transform the NREA, adding that as a reputable board, the directors are taking drastic measures including tackling the agency’s lack of executive capacity to implement government’s programme.
He revealed that Achugbu was suspended by majority vote on January 21st adding that his case has been “referred to the Minister of Power for further necessary action.”
