A couple of newlyweds perished today at Sabuwar-Unguwa in Katsina State. Abdullahi Abubakar, 33, and Asiya Yusuf, 18, died of injuries sustained in a fire allegedly caused by an electrical fault. They had been married for two monthts.
The woman's elder brother Abdulhafiz Yusuf confirmed the incident, saying the family received a distress call in the early morning hours and learnt about the tradegy. He further said the couple died at Katsina General Hospital.
Local police assured they are investigating the case and will eventually learn what caused the fire.
