How APC Tasks Gov. Amaechi, ex-Minister Ikimi

The national leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has directed the Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, and the former Minister of External Affairs, Chief Tom Ikimi, to resolve the crisis in the Bayelsa State chapter of the party.
It has been gathered that Amaechi and Ikimi were asked to meet with the warring factions and put an end to disturbances emanating from the state.
Loyalists of the former Governor of the state, Mr. Timipre Sylva, who joined the party from the dissolved new Peoples Democratic Party, have been dragging the state structure with the founding members of APC.
Following the crisis, the state Governor, Mr. Seriake Dickson, had appealed to the national leadership of the party to quickly intervene in the matter.
Therefore, the interim National Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, asked Ikimi and Amaechi, who are the leaders of the party in the South-south geopolitical zone, to look into the issues.
This development has been confirmed by Sylva’s former Security Adviser, Chief Richard Kpodo.
“The Governor of Rivers State and Chief Tom Ikimi are the leaders of the party in this zone and they have been mandated by our national leadership to intervene in the crisis,” he said.
He further urged the duo to do justice to the matter in order to avoid escalation of the crisis.
