Reckless Truck Driver Crushes Cyclist, Woman And Child

A reckless truck driver reportedly ran over a commercial cyclist on tuesday, killing the driver and his passengers which were a woman and her child, at the spot.

The accident reportedly took place on Auchi-Okpella Highway in Auchi, Edo state.

According to the Federal Road Safety Corps, the accident was caused by the recklessness of the truck driver who lost control due to speeding.

Mrs Achibong Nseobot, the Unit Commander of FRSC, told newsmen in Auchi that the truck ran over the motorcycle carrying the woman and her child.

“The tipper with registration no. Edo XA 503 AFZ was heading to Okene and ran into a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction, killing the rider, the woman and her child.

“The driver, in an attempt to escape, was apprehended by angry youths, who handed him over to the police,” she said.

Nseobot said the remains of the victims have been deposited in a mortuary, while they try to contact their relatives.

She called on the motorists in the area to be cautious when on the road and avoid reckless driving.
