Governor Shettima's Convoy In Fatal Crash, One Person Killed, One Injured

On Monday, Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima's convoy was involved in a road accident. One person was killed in the incident, while at least another one sustained serious injuries.
Governor Shettima was on his way to attend the burial of the late Emir of Shani, Alhaji Mohammed Mailafiya, who died last week in India.
One of the Jeeps in the Governor's convoy lost a tyre and rammed into a tree. The driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a tree opposite the Shani General Hospital which is now under renovation.
The deceased man allegedly was a close associate to the Governor. The driver sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Biu Local Government area for treatment.
The remains of the former Emir were laid to rest at his palace in Shani council. The burial was attended by many dignitaries, politicians and traditional rulers, including the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Garbai El-Kanemi.
