Tight Security, Tension As PDP NEC Decides Tukur’s Fate

Ahead of the People's Democratic party (PDP) National Executive Committee meeting which would hold today, tight security has been deployed in and around the party's secretariat in Wuse, Abuja.
As at this morning, all routes to the secretariat were taken over by hundreds of well armed police officers, soldiers and officers of Nigeria Civil Defence Corps, as well as fierce dogs.
Also, security officers have scaled up screening of those who want to gain access to the secretariat by ensuring that only those with proper accreditation are allowed in.

There were reports yesterday that Tukur had resigned but the embattled PDP chairman denied the report, telling newsmen at night that he remains the Chairman of PDP.
The NEC meeting will finally determine the fate of Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, whose continuous stay in office as the party’s national chairman has been subject of controversies in the past 48 hours.
Some reports indicated that Tukur’s resignation will be formally announced at the NEC meeting.
